Denton, TX (PRWEB) February 03, 2014

The 2014 festival takes place February 12-16 at eight venues in Downtown Denton. Tickets are now on sale for all film and main stage music events. Tickets for all other music events can be purchased at the door on the day of show.

Feature Films presented by the Denton Record Chronicle

A2-B-C – Eighteen months after the nuclear meltdown, children in Fukushima who were not evacuated are found to have low white blood cell counts and thyroid cysts and nodules. What will this mean for their future?

Antarctica: A Year on Ice – This feature-length film reveals what it is like to live and work at the bottom of the planet, in Antarctica, for a full year.

Coney Island: Dreams for Sale – Coney Island, the once magnificent Playground of the World has survived many battles, but now faces its greatest enemy: corporate greed.

Escaramuza: Riding from the Heart – Escaramuza Charra Las Azaleas are a gutsy team of women rodeo riders vying to represent the U.S. at the National Charro Championships in Mexico, where to be Charro is to be Mexican.

Freeload – Director Daniel T. Skaggs, spent over a year documenting the people riding America’s freight trains in the 21st century. What he brings to the screen is FREELOAD, a story of adventure, class disparity and the survival of youth.

Gold Star Children – Gold Star Children is a documentary feature film that takes an intimate look at American children who’ve lost a parent to war.

Goodness in Rwanda – Hope is found in unexpected ways in this revealing, behind the scenes look at a group of naive Canadian theatre artists touring a play about genocide – to Rwanda.

I Found My Tribe – Shot in Canada, the United States, and Ireland, the film traces the western poetry career of award winning poet Doris Daley.

I Shot My Love – tells a personal but universal love story and follows the triangular relationship between Tomer, his German boyfriend, and his intensely Israeli mother.

Little Saints – Eat a mushroom. Talk to God. Six individuals travel to meet a Shaman in Mexico to have an ancient ritual in which they ingest hallucinogenic mushrooms with the intention of alleviating their issues and discomforts with themselves.

Micha – The death eight years ago of Michas’ Lebanese father left he and his Mexican mother destitute. The sudden death of his mother leaves him no choice but to leave Mexico and seek work and a future in the United States.

My Toxic Backyard – Residents of a small community fight for clean drinking water as the contaminated soil of an old manufacturing plant continues leaking dangerous toxins into ground more than two decades after the threat was first reported to the Environmental Protection Agency.

Perfect Strangers – tells the story of two unique and engaging characters that choose to donate an organ to a complete stranger.

Pretty Brutal – follows self-titled girl skaters Pieces of Hate, Kid Vile and Naki Kronik into the full-contact world of New Zealand’s first Roller Derby league.

Not A Carwash – Director Gentian Koci’s doc captures the dramatic days when students, professors, activists and lovers of cinema battled to save the outdoor movie screen from destruction by police and corporate interests.

Sopro – Creative documentary about human existence and the mysteries of life and death, seen in the everyday life of a small village in the middle of nowhere, Brazil.

Spirit of the Sato, The Journey of Puerto Rico’s Lost Dogs – tells the story of rescuing the hundreds of thousands of lost or abandoned dogs following Puerto Rico’s greatest natural disaster.

The Engineer – (Executive Produced by WikiLeaks) For the Engineer, death is an art. A corpse is a friend. And he spends more time with his friends than his family. His own life is in danger, but he continues to unearth secret mass graves and identify the hundreds of missing teenagers lost to El Salvador’s brutal gang conflict.

The Last Safari – The road less traveled just got paved. ‘Renowned photojournalist Elizabeth L Gilbert sets out on an unforgettable journey through remote Kenya, returning to the tribes people whom she documented a decade earlier.

The Punk Singer – Kathleen Hanna, lead singer of the punk band Bikini Kill and dance-punk trio Le Tigre, rose to national attention as the reluctant but never shy voice of the riot grrrl movement. THE PUNK SINGER takes viewers on a fascinating tour of contemporary music and offers a never-before-seen view into the life of this fearless leader.

Unleashed! A Dog Dancing Story – An aspiring director and his amateur dog dancing troupe attempt to mount a ‘Cirque du Soleil’ inspired dog dancing and indoor kite flying theatrical performance.

WAGING PEACE: The Peace Corps Experience – Weaves the letters, journals, emails and blogs written by Peace Corps Volunteers with the profiles of four former volunteers who today are still making a difference in their communities.

When We Were All Broncos – A look at Denton’s role in school integration from the 1950′s through the early 70′s centered on the Denton High School football team.

Who Took Johnny – is an examination into the infamous thirty-year-old cold case behind the disappearance of Iowa paperboy Johnny Gosch, the first missing child to appear on a milk carton.

Wings of Life – Narrated by Meryl Streep, this intimate and unprecedented look at butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, bats and flowers is a celebration of life, as a third of the world’s food supply depends on these incredible — and increasingly threatened — creatures.

Yemeniettes – Three Yemeni teenage girls enter an entrepreneurship competition but along the way encounter the hardships of a country marked by a broken educational system, joblessness and a threatening Al-Qaeda presence.
